Modern Healthcare

Oakland, Calif.-based, 29-hospital Kaiser Permanente said it will begin using a sustainability scorecard that will require suppliers to provide environmental data on products. The goal of the program, according to a news release, will be to encourage suppliers across the healthcare industry to provide greener products. Kaiser officials said the scorecard would provide detailed environmental data on the $1 billion worth of medical supplies and equipment used annually in its hospitals and other facilities.
