Kaiser Permanente gives $10M over three years in NorCal to fight obesity

Kaiser Permanente said Wednesday it is committing $10 million to fighting obesity in Northern California, including making seven grants of $1 million each to help poor communities tackle the disease. As part of its HEAL Zones program, the Oakland-based health care giant said it’s providing $1 million each, over three years, to fund anti-obesity efforts in San Francisco’s Bayview neighborhood, Concord’s Monument Corridor, Richmond, Santa Rosa, south Sacramento, Madera and Modesto.
