Jobless can appeal COBRA subsidy denial
Orange County Register

Thousands of unemployed lost the federal government’s subsidy for COBRA health insurance when Congress dropped the benefit from the latest unemployment package, but some people may still be able to get it. Anyone who was laid off after May 31 is out of luck, but some people laid off earlier may be eligible even if their employer or their COBRA administrator turned them down. If your employer denied your eligibility for the subsidy, you can ask the U.S. Labor Department for an expedited appeal.
