Jerry Brown’s signature on 4 bills will improve health of women and children, save taxpayers money
The Mercury News

Of all the bills Gov. Jerry Brown has signed this month, perhaps none will have a greater effect on the health of California’s women and children than legislation requiring maternity care to be covered by health insurance plans. It’s estimated that 200,000 California women of childbearing age have policies that exclude maternity care. Without it, women often skimp on prenatal doctor visits, endangering their own health and that of their child, or turn to public services. Either result costs taxpayers in the end.
