Integrated Healthcare Association wins $2.9M grant to study “bundled” pay for health care entities

The Integrated Healthcare Association has won a $2.9 million grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to test so-called “bundled episode” payments for doctors, hospitals and other health care providers in California, and gauge their effectiveness compared to current payment methods. The Oakland-based quality improvement group said Friday it will use the three-year grant to build on a small existing pilot project in Los Angeles and Orange Counties that’s funded by the California Healthcare Association, also based in Oakland.
