Hospital services prices bounce back

Consumer prices for hospital services rebounded in August with a 0.5% increase following a drop of 0.5% in July, which marked the largest one-month decline since the Bureau of Labor Statistics began to collect comparable figures. Last month’s rise in hospital prices compares with a 0.6% increase during the same month a year ago, according to the Consumer Price Index. Consumer prices for inpatient hospital services rose faster than outpatient services in August, climbing 0.6% and 0.3%, respectively. The figures are seasonally adjusted.
