Hospital pension plan update expected by summer

Former Valley Health System employees are two to three months away from finding out what they may receive out of their pension plan that was terminated by the Hemet-based public hospital district last year.

The district cut off new plan enrollments in 1999. Three other benefit plans were not affected.

The district-funded pension plan has about $50 million in it but is considered underfunded, the district’s attorney said at a Valley Health board meeting Monday.
