Hospital districts push for better reimbursements

A coalition of California hospital districts, including the Tri-City Healthcare District, is lobbying legislators to change a system in which government health programs pay higher reimbursement rates to certain types of public hospitals, but not those run by public health care districts. After a recent meeting of the group —- called the District Hospital Leadership Forum —- Tri-City chief executive Larry Anderson said the organization’s goal is to boost revenue by improving federal Medicare and state Medi-Cal reimbursement rates to public health care districts in the state.
