The Hospital Construction Boom: Brought to You By Healthcare Reform

The recession’s effects on healthcare may be starting to dissipate. According to a recent survey by VHA Inc., a group purchasing organization for 1,400 not-for-profit hospitals, healthcare organizations plan or are engaged in 35% to 40% more construction projects in 2011 than they were in 2009.

While this data seems to contradict other indicators of healthcare performance from last year, it may portend a more positive outlook for hospitals in 2011. And that could well be related to healthcare reform.
