Sutter Health has settled its defamation lawsuit against a one of the country’s largest labor unions for $6 million and a public apology.

The Sacramento Bee reports that the hospital chain’s six-year dispute with Unite Here ended Tuesday.

According to the lawsuit, Unite Here sent about 11,000 postcards to Northern California homes in 2005 alleging that Sutter used soiled linens in maternity wards. The New York-based union was representing workers for a laundry contractor at the time.
