Hospital board rejects executive incentives
Los Altos Town Crier

Facing a sluggish economy, a decreased patient census and imminent layoffs, the El Camino Hospital Board of Directors voted Sept. 21 to forgo awarding executive performance incentives for fiscal year 2010.

Hospital spokeswoman Judy Twitchell said the board bases incentives on two criteria – the hospital must meet all accreditation surveys and hit its financial targets. Although the hospital swept the accreditation process with “very high marks,” Twitchell said, El Camino’s financial performance nosedived in February with an $11 million-plus loss in revenues, $8 million attributable to bad debt.
