High-risk insurance pools expand plan choices
Modern Healthcare

High-risk insurance pools in at least 23 states will offer patients with pre-existing health conditions more plan choices starting next year. Today, only one option is available in the federally funded program. But starting in 2011, patients residing in the 23 states where the HHS is running the high-risk pools will be able to choose between three plan options: a standard plan, an extended plan, and a health savings account plan. Additionally, the program will begin accepting certain children at child-only rates.
