Healthcare reform check-up: Is there a doctor in the house?

I’ve long assumed that there will be little to no of the now-traditional “safety net” programs for the elderly still functioning when I qualify for them. The two biggies are Social Security and Medicare. Both are in trouble. I don’t follow much about the former, but the latter is now acknowledged as “unsustainable” (a buzzword for the decade, if not century) and projected to expire in 2024 a dozen more years.
