Healthcare leaders unimpressed by budget votes

The defeat on Wednesday of several budget alternatives, including the high-profile Republican measure passed by the House of Representatives in April that included Medicare and Medicaid cuts, drew a collective shrug from providers.

“What occurred was totally predictable and largely symbolic,” Richard Pollack, executive vice president for advocacy and public policy at the American Hospital Association, said in an interview about the 57-40 rejection of the House budget plan.
