Health reform grants expected to ease primary care doctor shortage
Ventura County Star

An injection of $250 million in new federal grants won’t cure the shortage of doctors and nurses dedicated to primary care, but it will help, according to local healthcare representatives.

The grants, announced Wednesday by U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and U.S. Rep. Lois Capps, D-Santa Barbara, are part of federal healthcare reform and will help provide training for primary care doctors, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners and other professionals.
