Health care reform will help local doctor’s patients

When I began to voice my opinion as a family physician in support of more regulations on the health insurance industry and significant investments in rebuilding our country’s primary care work force, it was in the midst of extremist arguments from both sides of the political spectrum. To be honest, I expected some argument and negative feedback from my colleagues and patients. Instead, there has been an overwhelming level of support for establishing consumer protections against the abuses by the insurance industry and for increased access to primary care and a patient-centered medical home.
