University Hospital Stroke Center has received a grant to start a fellowship program intended to enhance the training and knowledge of its nurse practitioners.

The John and Yvonne Mead Stroke Nursing Fellowship Program, funded by a $50,000 grant, was unveiled at a press conference at the hospital Monday. It will fund advanced stroke training in clinical care and research for nurse practitioners by allowing them to work alongside neurologists and a variety of physicians, said Betsy White, the fellowship’s first recipient.
