Funding cuts may explain losses at SVMH
The Californian - Salinas

“Where are the jobs?” is a question asked this political season. Locally, the Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital has been losing jobs. Examining the reasons for this job loss might help answer the question.

Income at SVMH has fallen from 356 million two years ago to $340 million last year, and is projected to be $304 million next year.

Half this reduction comes from negotiated reductions in payments from private health insurers. One quarter will come from reduced funding or elimination of some federal and state programs.
