Former Aetna CEO gives $1M to Buck Institute

The former chairman and CEO of health insurer Aetna Inc. donated $1 million to the Buck Institute for Age Research. John “Jack” Rowe, who led a panel that in 1985 recommended creating the institute to bring together a range of scientists to focus on age research, made the gift with his wife, Valerie. The gift on Wednesday kicked off a first three-day meeting of the new Buck Advisory Council, a group designed to promote Novato-based Buck Institute worldwide.
