The work to expand the Banning hospital is being financed by a $108 million local bond measure that passed in March 2006. A helipad, new road, cooling tower and oxygen farm have been built and underground utilities have been put in place.

Now under construction is a central plant that will house boilers, chillers and emergency generators. It is 57 percent complete, according to a presentation Wednesday at the hospital.
