Enloe rated low in heart surgery
Chico Enterprise Record

The mortality rate among heart-bypass surgery patients at Enloe Medical Center during 2007 was designated “worse than expected” in a newly released state study. The study said the Chico hospital was one of four California hospitals that received that designation. Mike Wiltermood, Enloe’s chief executive officer, said in a letter to the state that the rating was “misleading.” He said of the 11 patients who died that year, 10 were either urgent or emergency cases, which put them at greater risk.
