Doctors sue to block glaucoma regulations

The California Medical Association and the California Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons filed a lawsuit in San Francisco Superior Court on Tuesday to block the implementation of controversial new rules that would allow California optometrists to treat glaucoma patients. For more than a year, the Watchdog has written about problems involving the drafting of these regulations, including potential conflicts of interest, safety concerns, possible violations of legislative intent and rules that would seem to prevent the regulations from going forward.
