A difference of style: Kaiser Permanente belatedly confirms new CNA nurses’ contract

More than 24 hours after the California Nurses Association announced, with its usual rhetorical fanfare, that its 17,000 nurses at more than 60 Kaiser Permanente facilities in the Golden State had won a new three-year contract, the giant health care organization quietly confirmed that fact, in its typical buttoned-down way. The Oakland-based nurses union heralded the new contract as offering 5 percent pay increases annually and serving as a model for others locally, statewide and nationally. Oakland-based Kaiser stuck to meat and potatoes.
