CVS agrees to pay $5 million settlement
Modern Healthcare

The Federal Trade Commission said that CVS Caremark Corp. will pay $5 million to settle charges (PDF) that it allegedly misrepresented the prices of some Medicare Part D prescription drugs at CVS and Walgreens pharmacies.

The FTC said the agreement was for settlement purposes only and does not constitute an admission of wrongdoing. After a two-year investigation, the FTC alleges that RxAmerica, a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan owned by CVS Caremark, posted lower prices of some drugs to its website, as well as the CMS‘ Plan Finder website and other third-party websites, from 2007 through November 2008.
