CMS administrators urge telemedicine support

CMS administrators from both sides of the political aisle made a case for stepping up adoption and reimbursement for telemedicine services at the American Telemedicine Association’s 2010 summit in Baltimore.

Donald Berwick, the agency’s current administrator, and Mark McClellan, who helmed the CMS during the George W. Bush administration, both voiced support for stronger collaboration between the CMS and the telemedicine community to reduce healthcare costs, improve the quality of medical services and expand care access to the underserved.
