CMA lawsuit against Blue Shield dismissed; doctor recognition can continue

An Alameda Superior Court judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the California Medical Association to block a physician recognition program by Blue Shield of California that honors doctors who do a good job on preventive services. The CMA alleges in its lawsuit that data published on the Blue Shield website is selective, does not accurately describe the quality of care doctors provide — and is less about quality and more about doctors who cost the health plan less.
