The California Public Employees’ Retirement System said Tuesday it has shaved off a “likely” $15.5 million in health care savings so far in a Sacramento accountable care organization pilot with Blue Shield of California, Catholic Healthcare West and Hill Physicians Medical Group. The ACO pilot started in January 2010 and is slated to end this January. It includes 41,000 CalPERS members in Sacramento, Placer and El Dorado counties who are enrolled in a Blue Shield HMO plan.
