American Medical News

Blue Shield of California has pledged that the nonprofit health plan will limit its annual net income to 2% of revenue.

The company’s pledge takes effect for its 2010 income. It will credit $167 million of its 2010 income to current customers, who can use the credits toward future insurance purchases. For individual subscribers, those credits will range from $25 to $160, and from $130 to $415 for a family of four.
