Calif Med Assn appeals case on medical board funds
The Mercury News

A doctors trade association petitioned the state Supreme Court on Tuesday to bar California officials from raiding the coffers of the state’s medical licensing authority. In its petition, the California Medical Association said regulation and licensing of doctors has been slowed due to un-repaid loans to the state from the agency. The lawsuit deals with a loan taken in 2008, when former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger borrowed $6 million from the board when it had more than $24 million in surplus.
