Cal Pacific, Stanford hope to postpone huge seismic upgrades
San Francisco Business Times

Multibillion-dollar hospital rebuild projects at California Pacific Medical Center and Stanford Hospital could be delayed yet again if state legislation they’re advocating becomes law. An amended version of Senate Bill 289, authored by state Sen. Denise Ducheny (D-Chula Vista), and additional legislation now being framed would give hospitals battling local planning obstacles — such as San Francisco’s CPMC and Palo Alto’s Stanford Hospital — until as late as Jan. 1, 2018, to meet California’s seismic safety requirements, according to Ducheny and other sources.
