Sacramento Business Journal

Blue Shield of California pledged Tuesday to cap its profit margin at 2 percent of revenue, returning any additional profits to customers, health care providers and low income Californians. The plan starts with last year’s profit, meaning Blue Shield will return $167 million to policyholders, $10 million to hospital and physician groups and the rest to a Blue Shield foundation to provide health care services to people of low income.
