Orange County Register

Blue Shield of California will refund $167 million to policy holders this fall as part of a new pledge to cap profits at 2 percent of revenue, the company announced Tuesday. The credits, to be given in October, will amount to a one-time, 30 percent reduction in the monthly premium. Paul Markovich, chief operating officer, said for employer-based group plans, the average credit will be $110-$130 per employee. For individual plans, the average credit will be $80 for a single person and $250 for a family of four.
