Blue Shield of California Foundation makes $6.9M in 2nd quarter grants
San Francisco Business Times

The Blue Shield of California Foundation said Thursday it’s making nearly $6.9 million in second-quarter 2011 grants, most aimed at “strengthening” the leadership of California community clinics and domestic violence organizations, by which it means groups dedicated to ending or reducing domestic violence. The news came on the heels of San Francisco-based Blue Shield of California’s announcement Tuesday that it would cap profits at 2 percent, and return $180 million in 2010 income to policyholders and others affected by high premiums.
