Blue Shield of California Foundation makes $3M in Q3 grants

The Blue Shield of California Foundation said Tuesday it is making $2.98 million in third-quarter grants, including $1.9 million to help 12 counties plan for expansions in public health coverage. That brings its nine-month total to about $18 million. The San Francisco foundation, the philanthropic arm of Blue Shield of California described the county grants as helping to build “a bridge to the coverage expansions envisioned under federal health reform that will take effect in 2014.”
