Bill would cut pay for health care that harms

A bill moving through the legislature would potentially save Medi-Cal $13 million per year if doctors are not paid for care that leaves patients infected, burned or ridden with a serious bedsore. The point of the law, though, is not to save money. Rather, it’s to spur hospitals and health professionals to do everything they can to prevent medical errors that leave patients injured, disabled or dead.
