Bill to regulate health insurance passes Assembly
Sacramento Bee

Fueled by anger over soaring health-insurance costs, legislation to require state approval of future rate increases was approved Wednesday by the California Assembly. The measure, Assembly Bill 2578, would require health insurers to obtain the state’s blessing before raising premiums, co-payments or deductibles.

After passing 43-28 with no Republican support, the bill now goes to the Senate.
