A bad health care plan for San Francisco
San Francisco Chronicle

Ideally, San Francisco would locate hospitals the way it does Muni lines, firehouses and libraries: putting them across the city to serve a wide population. But these costly and complex institutions are clustered in the northern half of the city - and, if a $2.5 billion private hospital project goes ahead, the map will stay that way.

The city has lived with this imbalance for decades. San Francisco is, after all, a small place where the farthest corner is a bus ride away.
