Area Kaiser workers keep eye on Southern California strike

Health care workers at Kaiser Permanente’s flagship Los Angeles Medical Center and dozens of other work sites in Southern California walked off the job Wednesday to protest proposed retirement and health-benefit cuts at a time of record company profits. The one-day strike by up to 2,500 members of the National Union of Healthcare Workers also called attention to concerns about safe staffing and the ability to provide timely mental health services to Kaiser members throughout Southern California.
