Anthem Blue Cross pulls back on planned rate hikes
San Francisco Chronicle

Anthem Blue Cross has agreed to lower and delay its planned rate increases for this year, a move the state insurance commissioner said Monday would save individual California policyholders about $40 million.

Anthem, the state’s largest health insurer, said it will push back its original rate increases, scheduled to take effect April 1, to July 1, and will reduce the hike to an average of 9.1 percent from its earlier proposed 9.8 percent average increase.
