Alameda Hospital Continues to Defy County Regulations

In 2007 Alameda County adopted protocols that require ambulances to take stroke patients to certified stroke centers. According to Alameda resident Denise Lai, Alameda Hospital has resisted these protocols, even threatening legal action if they were put in place. Lai’s research show that although Alameda Hospital is one of five hospitals in the county that does not have the certification, AFD paramedics are required to transport stroke victims to Alameda Hospital.
