Modern Healthcare

Some 59.1 million Americans reported being without health insurance at some point during the past year, according to recently released data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics. The number was 58.5 million in 2009. Using information collected from interviews conducted during the first three months of 2010, the CDC made several estimates, such as the number of uninsured at the time of the interview—46.7 million people—and the number of Americans who had been uninsured for at least a year at the time of the interview—33.9 million.
