2 Bay Area hospitals cited for safety issues
San Francisco Chronicle

Marin General Hospital and Alameda County Medical Center were among nine hospitals cited Thursday by state health officials for safety violations that were serious enough to cause patient death or injury.

The state Department of Public Health fined Oakland’s Highland Hospital $75,000 for a medication error that resulted in the death of an unidentified patient in October 2009. According to a report on the incident, a nurse improperly administered an anti-seizure drug.
