Webinar Tomorrow Will Preview AskCHIS Neighborhood Edition
New web tool provides California health statistics by ZIP code, city and legislative district

The UCLA Center for Health Policy Research will conduct a live webinar demonstration tomorrow, Nov. 12, from noon to 1 p.m. to unveil its AskCHIS Neighborhood Edition, a new online tool that provides access to comprehensive health statistics by ZIP code, city and legislative district. Launching in mid-November, the tool will enable users to customize and compare small geographic areas and map and chart their results. AskCHIS Neighborhood Edition covers a wide range of health topics – including health insurance, chronic conditions such as asthma and diabetes, health behaviors such as smoking and physical activity, children’s health, access to care, mental health and much more – and can be an important resource for Community Health Needs Assessments, local health department accreditation applications, and targeted community planning and program evaluation.

For example, AskCHIS will allow hospitals to generate estimates for their specific service areas, with the ability to compare to other geographic areas, and offers easy-to-use tools for generating charts and maps. The new tool is a service of the center’s California Health Interview Survey, the nation’s largest state health survey. A companion web tool, AskCHIS, allows users to find health data at the county, region and state level. Webinar registration is available online.
