Webinar to Cover Privacy Laws for Patients With Mental Health, Substance Use Issues
Program is two weeks away; register online now

Health care providers are often hesitant to share patient information because they are uncertain about the rules. Holding back is not always in the best interest of the patient — especially patients with mental health or substance use disorders who often need extra support. CHA will host a webinar Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. – noon (PT) to help providers understand the numerous and complicated laws governing privacy for patients with mental health and substance use disorders. Participants will hear how the law applies to common situations and learn what can and can’t be said to other providers, payers, family and friends. Faculty includes CHA’s Lois Richardson, vice president, privacy and legal publications/education and Sheree Kruckenberg, vice president, behavioral health. The operational perspective will be presented by Dignity Health attorney Jana Aagaard, who specializes in health care law with a focus on health information privacy and technology, and clinical research.
