Volunteer Leadership Conference to Highlight Workplace Compliance Issues, Inpatient Care Experience
Deadline for discounted room rate is Jan. 27

The California Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (CAHHS) will host the 2015 California Hospital Volunteer Leadership Conference Feb. 16-19 at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa.

The use of volunteers in the workplace is a hot topic, particularly in California where employers are subject to a myriad of laws and regulations that exceed federal requirements. Mylene Brooks, Esq., litigation manager, human resource compliance, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and Barbara Leanse, director of volunteer services, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, will present strategies for managing a volunteer workforce in today’s litigious environment, including how to ensure compliance with federal and state laws while meeting the needs of a hospital and adhering to its mission.

Mel A. Carrillo, RN, BSN, NEA-BC, inpatient care experience leader and Kathleen J. McIntire, CAVS, director, volunteer & chaplain services, will share how Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center’s integrated, interdisciplinary team approach has produced strong care experience programs. They will also present lessons learned as well as tools that can help hospitals sustain HCAHPS gains through volunteer involvement.

The deadline to reserve discounted sleeping rooms at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa is Jan. 27.  The deadline to submit advertisements for the printed program has been extended to Jan. 21.

Conference registration is available exclusively online for attendees, exhibitors, sponsors and advertisers. For more information and to register, visit www.calhospital.org/2015-volunteer-conference.
