Version 5010 Enforcement Period Ends June 30

The enforcement discretion period ends June 30 for upgrading to new ASC X12 Version 5010 and NCPDP Versions D.0 and 3.0. As required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, covered entities were required to upgrade to the new transaction standards by Jan. 1, 2012. However, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services initiated an enforcement discretion period to give providers additional time to upgrade.
