Federal lawmakers have reached a deal to expand the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) with an additional $75 billion for health care providers. The Senate is expected to vote today; the House is scheduled to vote on Thursday. There is still time before Thursday’s vote to urge House members to vote yes on the package and articulate hospital’s need for additional funding. When the first draft of this expansion of the PPP was announced, there was no additional funding for hospitals. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi pushed for $100 billion in additional funds for hospitals, and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has endorsed the final package. CHA worked closely with congressional leaders to ensure these additional funds would be included.
