Two Upcoming Programs Focus on Hospital Ebola Preparedness
CDPH provider call Sept. 25; ASPR webinar Sept. 29

Addressing hospitals’ need for the most updated guidance on preparing for a potential Ebola virus outbreak, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the federal Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) will hold separate information sessions in the next week. On Sept. 25, CDPH will host a health care provider call from 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., with discussion focused on epidemiology guidance; laboratory and health care issues; lessons learned from the recent Kaiser experience; and concerns raised by hospitals recently surveyed by local health departments. To participate, call (888) 989-7698 and enter passcode 5899339.

On Sept. 29 from noon – 1 p.m. (PT), ASPR will offer a webinar on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Ebola hospital checklist. The checklist highlights key areas for hospital staff to review in preparation for receiving patients with Ebola virus disease, as well as guidance for detecting possible cases, protecting employees and responding appropriately. The webinar is recommended for hospital emergency managers, infection control officers, leadership and clinical staff. To participate, register online. Attendance is limited to 1,000 participants, but a replay will be posted at for reference.
