Trump Administration Blocks Employer Pay Data Reporting Requirement

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has announced an immediate stay of new federal pay reporting requirements, originally scheduled to take effect March 31, 2018. Last year, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) sought to expand the information employers are required to report in their annual employer information EEO-1 reports to include pay data and hours worked data. According to the OMB, reporting this information could be unnecessarily burdensome; in addition, privacy and confidentiality issues were not adequately addressed. Covered employers  those with 100 or more employees  are still required to file EEO-1 reports using previous forms. The OMB memo is attached; the EEOC response is available online
