Trauma Toolbox for Pediatrics Now Available

The American Academy of Pediatrics has released a new Trauma Toolbox for Primary Care. Designed to help primary care practices increase understanding of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and their impact on health, the toolbox offers suggestions for talking with families and provides recommendations on preparing the medical home to address ACEs and other traumatic events. The six-part series includes information on how ACEs contribute to adult physical and mental health outcomes; initial suggestions for pediatricians to consider when addressing ACEs in their practices; ways to protect physician wellness when working with children who have experienced ACEs and more. For more information, visit the AAP Trauma Guide web page.
